Description
Barbara Hammerman Brody (American, 1941 – )
Known mostly for her undeniable talents as a colorist and a landscape painter, B. H. Brody’s artistic passions include a wide variety of media. Whether she is creating paintings, collages, pastel drawings, designs, or writing, Brody throws herself into her work completely. Characterized largely by the use of light and gradations of color, Brody’s artwork captures the beauty of nature on a canvas. As the artist explains, her work is defined by “color, color, color, coupled with surprise, timelessness, and movement, along with a certain playfulness and elegance.”
Using a mix of jewel tones and natural, earthy colors, Brody usually paints with acrylic and oil pastel on canvas. This combination results in vibrant colors and interesting, elegant textures. The unique nature of her artistic creations makes them widely collected and Brody has had dozens of group and solo exhibitions since the late 1960s. Her work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as many galleries in the US, UK, and Europe.
